Mad - Museum of arts and design

In New York a famously known museum is the the museum of art and design, the museum regularly debuts a range of different artists work and is the perfect place to explore new art and particularly new up coming artists. I visited while in New York and below are so of my favourite pieces.

This piece was a particularly captivating piece due to its grand size and unusual textual concept. The piece was made up of a range of coloured balls made out of fabric which all come together to create this amazing portrait. I love how the different pieces all come together to create one main piece of art. The time this has taken to complete let alone the planning and skill with the perfect layering and ordering of the fabric pieces to get this stand out portrait.

There were a different range of motifs around the different floors in the museum these are the ones I particularly liked. I loved the piece on the left hand corner due to its complex details and the colourful effect which it gives off when all the different pieces come together. The pattern is interesting due to its degreasing nature of patterns, the first half has a set of discreet swirls and then it follows down to create what looks like a blocked pathway through the lower half of the painting. I like how abstract the piece is and the fact its not a perfect square shape adds to its organic nature.

I think this is my favourite piece out of them all in the museum linking words to reality using other locations and words. The colours are powerful and I think the brick wall repersents the hard reality of life. I think the word concessions is powerful in its self meaning compromise, adjustment and modification. People are modifying to adjust to life's demands. The colour pink against the brick wall shows the contrast in wants and reality.
