print trends- the water world

For my final outcome I have based my print and motif trend around the underwater theme for spring and summer 2019 due to the current upcoming trends based around being stainable and envorimentally friendly. There are regular comments made against the fashion industry for its damaging impact on the environment. I want to create a trend that inculpates some of those issues. Below are previous examples on how the under the water trend has been inculpated by other brands.

Alexander MacQueen-

This was a powerful catwalk called the Plato’s Atlantis collection, took to the catwalk in 2009 imagining the effect of losing the polar ice caps and the effect that would have on the envoirment let alone humans. I really like the surreal patterns and the mirrored patterns over all of the garments. I think this is a very spaced themed way to explore the under the sea patterns.

Below is another set of underwater themed previous catwalk photos from 2012, I think due to the current on going topically convocations that this will be a relevant trend for 2018 spring and summer.

The collection below by Monique Ihuiller for spring and summer 2013 is focused on more of the use of colour from the underwater inspiration. I think this is a way to predicable and easy way to present the inspiration for this current year and that it wouldn't have the same impact. I would have to re-invent different aspects for my trend.
