How to cut down on everyday Plastic usage

We are polluting the oceans at a unbelievable rate, we need to stop polluting our oceans. Its already filled with a colossal amount of non disposable waste and we can't keep adding at this rate or there will be no oceans. No one can have the attitude of out of sight, out of mind ANYMORE.

I have come up with a list of easy ways to convert your life and cut down on your plastic usage and therefore your carbon footprint.

1. GET RID OF ALL PLASTIC BOTTLES USE. Instead buy one reusable high quality bottle, this bottle is not only better for you to drink out of but keeps the drinks hotter/colder for longer aswell as cutting down on regular plastic consumption. I have recently been bought a beautiful "Chilly's" Bottle and I am no longer to going to buy any plastic bottles. They come in a range of different sizes and a huge range of colours.

2. No MORE PLASTIC STRAWS .Plastic straws cause so much damage to marine life. Animals try and swallow or hold onto the straws as they are convinced its apart of there natural habit. The perfect alternative - A metal straw. I have bought a large set of metal straws and I have one in every bag I now own. You can easy wash them and they will last forever. They also come in so many shapes, sizes and colours.

3. NO MORE GLITTERY WRAPPING PAPER. Lots of wrapping paper contains plastic and the glittery ones don't use biodegrable glitter. Instead use brown craft paper to wrap and use string and bows to create a more personal touch. You can also add little features such as Ivy, vine, leaves. or pressed flowers.

4. NO MORE PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS. Most supermarkets are now getting rid of the 5p price on the plastic bags and instead creating stronger bags which cost 10p in the hope they can be reused and the increase in price will put more people off buying one. Buy a large reusable bag which can be easily taken to all shops so that no one bags need to be bought.

5. AVOID PRODUCTS WITH EXCESSIVE PLASTIC WASTE. We have so much choice in the supermakets and shops and its making small decsions such as buying or paying that extra 5p for a product will less plastic packaging. Buying fruit and veg without any plastic or packaging around them is a great way to start!

Thats just a few of my tips for starting to make easy cuts on my plastic usage. There are so many more ways of cutting down on your plastic usage it just takes a little thought.
